Reimagining our built environment to prepare all learners to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Our Long Range Facilities Plan is a collaborative, year-long planning initiative to catalyze district action to modernize our schools, reduce energy bills, and create opportunities to design innovative, vibrant learning environments.
Begun in November 2022, ARUSD launched an inclusive planning process to develop concrete actions the District can take in the Implementation Phase of this plan over the next fifteen years to meet our mission and vision.
Throughout the process, ARUSD collaborated with community leaders, educators, families, students, and built environment experts to develop actionable strategies the District will advance over the next ten years to achieve an equitable built environment.

Building Equity is at the heart of our Design Guidelines.
The Long Range Facilities Plan aligns our 2022 Strategic Plan, Local Control and Accountability Plan, and programs our District provides, can advance to build equitable environments, make energy more affordable, and create opportunities for local, community-led innovative learning programs for all students.
The recommendations included in the plan are:
- Aligned with the energy and equity policy targets of our District and State;
- Reflective of an inclusive approach to planning grounded in the needs of ARUSD residents.
- Prioritizing frontline communities and communities that have been historically underserved.
Our Approach.
Three
project
tiers
to
guide
our
campus
transformations.
The Tier One Planning Approach puts us on track to advance District capacity shifts and vision projects.
The Tier Two Planning Approach includes vision projects requiring more intensive design and construction for a group of existing campus buildings
and grounds.
The Tier Three Planning Approach brings holistic modernizations to a group of existing campus buildings and grounds needing systems upgrades.
