2023-2038 Long Range Facilities Plan

Evolving the built
environment to thrive in a
rapidly changing world.

Building Blocks.

The plan has two paths: the here and now immediate needs and the mindful path forward with a transparent process and pragmatic use of funds.

Improving our Environs.

Our Long Range Facilities Plan serves to transform campus communities into healthier, more equitable places to live and learn.

The Plan celebrates our unique historic, ecological, and cultural assets, while providing space to meet contemporary academic needs and strategic
initiatives – all within a growing urban setting in Santa Clara County. By evolving our built environment, we can address a range of issues including capacity and demographics, campus landscapes, mobility and accessibility, sustainability, and deferred maintenance. The vision for district-wide improvements to our environs is anchored around the following three big ideas.

Building Block One.

Building on Strengths.

Our passion for teaching and learning in a multilingual, multicultural community bolsters innovation.

We are building our future on a shared vision for whole child growth and development all the way through college and career readiness.

Our Long Range Facilities Plan supports our drive to meet the needs of contemporary learners by aligning with our strategic academic mission. The 2022 District Strategic Plan establishes three strategic priority areas; whole child and whole family development, multicultural and multilingual education, and early and expanded learning. To propel these priorities as our strengths, the Long Range Facilities Plan integrates strategies to improve our environs as a reflection of our priorities and values.

Building Block Two.

Enhancing Student Life.

Our enduring promise is for every campus to enrich, attract, and support new ways of teaching and learning for the future.

We are transforming our built environment to better reflect who we are as leaders in a diverse, changing, competitive world.

Our Long Range Facilities Plan is tailored to enhance student life by redesigning learning environments to bolster our academic mission for whole child, whole health development: critical thinking, collaboration, curiosity, and creativity — inside and outside. To guide our campus modernizations based on values and priorities, newly revised Design Guidelines provide an inclusive, collaborative approach to holistic planning.

Centering Community.

Our commitment is to fostering healthy, prosocial communities to make health the easy choice for learners of all ages.

Giving campus communities center stage, our local programs and partnerships continue to strengthen and grow.

Our Long Range Facilities Plan centers community and life readiness by infusing a call for innovation into all aspects of campus life. For each learner to actualize their full potential, state-of-the-art  learning environments will open doors for real world opportunities to discover, explore, and engage in unique passions and interests.
